[Korea: Impeachment & Election] Power of Darkness: Episode 12 - The End of Power

 

At the end of August 2025, South Korea reached a historic turning point. With Seo Ji-hyun's revelations and Han Han-jun's evidence, the conspiracy of Choi Young-cheol and his secret forces was completely revealed. The public's anger became a huge wave that shook the political world and the conglomerates, and Choi Young-cheol attempted a final struggle by mobilizing parts of the prosecution and the media. Prosecutor Han Han-jun sacrificed everything for justice, and Kang Tae-min stood tall as the people's hope in the presidential race. Seo Ji-hyun set a new standard for journalism and held up the torch of truth. However, Choi Young-cheol's final card still remained.

 

"The end of Choi Young-cheol, Han Do-jun wields the sword of justice.."

 

Han Han-jun reviewed Choi Young-cheol's contract with Yoon So-young and Lee Su-min in a warehouse near the prosecutor's office in downtown Seoul. Lee Soo-min gathered trusted colleagues within the prosecution and prepared to indict Choi Young-cheol. But Han Han-jun was still anxious. There was no way to know what Choi Young-cheol's final counterattack would be.
“Lee Soo-min, you can catch Choi Young-cheol with this evidence, right? Director Kim Tae-ho is still interfering.”
Han Do-jun’s voice showed tension. Su-min Lee answered firmly.
“Prosecutor Han, don’t worry. Kim Tae-ho is now isolated. We have the support of the people.”
Soyoung Yoon intervened.
“Senior, but there’s no way Choi Young-cheol will just step down. He’s probably preparing something big.”

At that time, the warehouse door burst open. It was Choi Young-cheol. There were two bodyguards standing behind him. Han Han-jun pulled out a pistol, aimed it, and shouted.
“Choi Young-cheol! How did you get here?”
Choi Young-cheol said with a cold smile.
“Han Do-jun, you are really persistent. But you cannot win this fight. Join hands with me.”
Han Han-jun gritted his teeth and asked.
“Hold hands? With you selling out the country? This is absurd!”
Youngcheol Choi slowly approached and spoke.
“Han Do-jun, your father also rejected my offer. That’s why he died. Do you want to follow the same path?”
Han Do-jun’s hands were shaking. The moment he confirmed that his father's mysterious death was caused by Choi Young-cheol, his anger exploded.
“Choi Young-cheol, you are a monster! You had my father’s death in your hands!”
Choi Young-cheol answered leisurely.
“Han Do-jun, this country does not work for the weak. Let’s create a new order with me. We need talented people like you.”
Han Han-jun gritted his teeth and shouted.
“My justice will not compromise with corruption like you! Choi Young-cheol, this is the end for you!”
He rushed towards Choi Young-cheol, but the bodyguards subdued him. Soyoung Yoon shouted.
“Sir! Stop!”
Choi Young-cheol spoke softly as he left the warehouse.
“Han Do-jun, you will regret your choice.”
However, Lee Soo-min had the prosecution's special team waiting outside the warehouse. Choi Young-cheol was surrounded and arrested. Han Do-jun muttered under his breath.
“Father… I have finally avenged you.”

In front of the National Assembly building in Yeouido. Kang Tae-min held a ‘national unity rally’ with citizens gathered from all over the country. Although his presidential approval rating exceeded 60%, he wanted to unite the divided people. He went on stage and invited opposition supporters.
“Fellow citizens! This country belongs to all of us, not the ruling party or the opposition party! It was our unity that stopped Choi Young-cheol’s plot!”
One opposition supporter took the microphone and asked:
“Rep. Kang, are you really going to accept opposing forces like us?”
Kang Taemin answered while holding his shoulder.
“You are also citizens of this country. We must create a future together.”
The crowd cheered and chanted his name. Taemin Kang presented a specific policy.
“I will create a fair judiciary, a transparent economy, and a society where everyone is respected! Everyone, please trust me!”

Assistant Park Min-soo spoke from behind the stage.
“Congressman, the fact that you even embraced the opposition party’s supporters is truly amazing. The presidential election is now almost confirmed.”
Kang Taemin answered with a heavy expression.
“Minsu, what is more important than the presidential election is the public’s trust. We must make sure that people like Choi Young-cheol do not appear again.”
He called Jaehoon Lee.
“Jae-hoon, your justice made this rally possible. Choi Young-cheol is now over.”
Jaehoon Lee answered in a tired voice.
“Brother, Director Hwang Seok-gu has been suspended. The judiciary will now be clean.”

Jongno, Seo Ji-hyun’s media office. Seo Ji-hyun's revelations received international media attention. CNN and BBC cited her articles and praised her as “Korea’s new journalism.” However, corruption within the media still persisted. Editor-in-chief Lee Jeong-hoon called her again.
“Seo Ji-hyun, your article has brought us international attention. But Choi Young-cheol’s threats have become more severe. We may have to stop.”
Seo Ji-hyun gritted her teeth and answered.
“Director, if we stop telling the truth, the media will die. I will continue to fight.”
Lee Jeong-hoon sighed and said.
“Seo Ji-hyun, a reporter like you will change this media company. But be careful.”

Seo Ji-hyun worked with Minzy to flesh out plans for a new media platform.
“Minji, we need to weed out corrupt reporters and create a media that the people can trust. This is my dream.”
Minji nodded resolutely.
“Reporter Seo, I will join you. This is our generation’s fight.”

That night, Seo Ji-hyeon received a call from Buddhist monk Myodeok.
“Reporter Seo, your revelations shook the world. Choi Young-cheol is over now.”
Seo Ji-hyun gritted her teeth and asked.
“Are you a survivor who lost your comrades due to Choi Young-cheol’s betrayal in 1987? Now tell me. What is your real name?”
Master Myodeok answered lowly.
“My name is not important. But in 1987, I lost everything due to Choi Young-cheol’s betrayal. You saved the dreams of my comrades.”
Seo Ji-hyun spoke firmly.
“Mage Myodeok, your dream is now my dream. I will fight for this country until the end.”

She submitted the final article from her office. The article spread around the world through international media. Choi Young-cheol's men's plan to target her was foiled by the prosecution's arrest. Han Han-jun came to the office and said.
“Reporter Seo, thanks to you, we caught Choi Young-cheol. Now it’s a new beginning.”
Seo Ji-hyun answered with a smile.
“Prosecutor Han, this is a victory for all of us.”

Han Do-jun went to see his mother and hugged her.
“Mom, I kept my promise. I came back alive.”

Kang Tae-min made his decision at a national rally.
“With the unity of the people, we stopped the conspiracy. Now let’s create a new Republic of Korea!”

Seo Ji-hyun muttered as she launched a new media platform.
“Mage Myodeok… I will never forget your sacrifice.”

The Republic of Korea has gone beyond the fall of the shadows and has welcomed the dawn of a new order. Those who pursue the truth have now taken a step toward the future.
